Guestbooks with a little oomph

February 16, 2011 § Leave a comment

I never know what to write in guestbooks- or even group birthday cards for that matter, so having a little prompt makes things a lot easier and butters your guests up to say more than they might have otherwise. I think it’d actually be great to mix the top two images into one- fitting the prompt cards into envelopes in a keepsake book so you don’t just have a pile of cards lying around waiting to get lost.  « Read the rest of this entry »

DIY: Handmade Cards/Relaxation

So this one is a pretty obvious DIY project- but does it make it less fun? Nope! I went out and bought a bunch of Martha Stewart sale items at the art store this weekend. I got a box full of glitter, blank cards, cute envelopes, half-pearl stickers, and a ton of adorable stamps with monochromatic ink pads– all for $10! « Read the rest of this entry »

DIY: Oh the Power of Shoe Clips

February 12, 2011 § Leave a comment

It probably goes without saying that shoes clips are a great, inexpensive way to spruce up any pair of shoes. It’s an easy way to add “something blue”- perhaps a blue vintage cameo? Or if you’re looking to help your bridesmaids save money but want some uniformity, they can wear simple black shoes they already have in their closet and all clip on the same shoe clips that match your wedding palette. They’re also incredibly easy to make and would be a fun DIY activity for a wedding party with the girls.

Several of these are actually available for very reasonable prices on Etsy. However, if you’re good with your hands or are just good with directions, there are tons of sources for how to make various shoe clips (3 of the best I’ve found are linked below). Most of them just involve glueing bows, old jewelry or bunched fabric to a clip (even a sturdy hair clip could work in some cases).

There are so many more images I wanted to include but I had to draw the line somewhere, so poke through these sources for more inspiration! Sources: Etsy, No.144, PistolPoppy, Flikr

The Caketress

February 12, 2011 § 1 Comment

The Caketress is easily one of the most talented cake shops out there. She’s based in Toronto (sigh) so too far for me, but maybe some of you can use her! Either way, her artwork makes for great inspiration when it comes to dreaming up your wedding cake. The details in her work are just ridiculous aren’t they? Very classy with good composition and elegant color palettes. You can tell she’s an artist through and through and not just a copycat baker.

Vintage Inspired Earrings

All of these darling little earrings are hand made by JewelryVixen on Etsy. I love how they’re either very simple and delicate or extremely ornate with impeccable little details. Did you notice the earrings with baskets filled with moss? Those little blue flowers would make a great “something blue” and a nice little pop of color on the big day.

DIY: Dainty New Take on Light Strands

I came across this cute idea on HomeLife. You just cut vellum paper into a layered shape (they use simple flowers) and poke each little light bulb through the stack of 3 or 4 flowers. What a great way to make us of stuff collecting dust in your attic! « Read the rest of this entry »

Vera Wang for David’s Bridal

February 10, 2011 § Leave a comment

If you look at Vera Wang’s couture line next to her line for David’s Bridal, you’ll most likely agree that it’s just as gorgeous. When I first saw images of the lines side-by-side I actually preferred the David’ Bridal line over the couture. I was shocked, and then ridiculously happy. I cannot wait to go try them on! Shop the line here.
